“no machine is an island”
An exploration of computational imagination through machine learning
“no machine is an island” is a project developed by Larissa Pschetz and me for BBC Radio 4’s Data Stream Day. Using machine learning models such as im2txt, we created a conversation between two computational entities: one reads a poem from the Four Seasons and searching for images to interpret the poem, the other, looks at these images, describes what it sees and generates its own poem accordingly. This project explores the notion of memory and imagination, language and vision, in the context of artificial intelligence.
